Adds advanced, fuel-powered quarries that automatically mine large areas. Features tiered machines from Iron to Adamantite, BuildCraft-style frames, cave ore discovery system, and full server-side configuration.
Better Quarry introduces automated mining machines to Hytale, allowing you to set up fuel-powered quarries that excavate large areas while you focus on other tasks.
How Quarries Work
- Place the quarry and supply it with fuel
- Put a chest on top to store mined resources
- Power it on - the quarry builds its frame automatically
- The machine clears a 6-block-high area, then mines downward
- Resources are deposited into the chest above
The arrow on the back of the machine indicates mining direction.
Quarry Tiers
Iron Quarry
- Mining Area: 16x16 blocks
- Speed: 1 block every 0.5 seconds
- Entry-level automation for early resource gathering
Thorium Quarry
- Mining Area: 16x16 blocks
- Speed: 1 block every 0.25 seconds
- Same footprint, twice the speed
Cobalt Quarry
- Mining Area: 32x32 blocks
- Speed: 1 block every 0.5 seconds
- Large-scale excavation for mid-to-late game
Adamantite Quarry
- Mining Area: 32x32 blocks
- Speed: 1 block every 0.25 seconds
- Maximum coverage and speed for endgame automation
Frame System
Quarries create BuildCraft-style frames around their mining area:
- Frames are auto-repaired if broken
- Frames are fully removed when the quarry is removed
- A clearing pass happens before mining begins
Cave Ore Discovery
Since Hytale ores are often in caves rather than uniform layers, quarries include a discovery system:
- Each mined block has a configurable chance (default 1%) to yield a cave ore
- Ore type depends on the block/biome (e.g., Adamantite from Volcanic Rock/Basalt)
- Discovered ores can duplicate their drops
- Fully configurable per server
Safety Features
- Dynamic orientation detection prevents incorrect mining direction
- Items in internal slots automatically push to the chest above
- Quarry powers off automatically when issues occur (full output, bedrock, etc.)
Commands
Use /betterquarry status to display live quarry activity in chat. Run the command again to stop the display.
Server Configuration
Admins can configure per quarry tier:
- Mining speed
- Mining area size
- Max operations per tick for performance
- Ore discovery chances
Installation
- Download the mod file
- Place it in your Hytale mods folder
